Resin capsules are an anchoring system that is widely used in the mining sector for supporting underground excavations. A typical resin consists of a mixture of fumaric acid and phthalic anhydride, which is esterified with propylene glycol for producing an acrylic-polyester resin. It is then combined with a curing accelerator and filler like dolomite, limestone, or any other mineral. This resin is then molded to a two-compartmented container by forming and assembling the edges and sheet on a conventional apparatus, which can be either hand or powered. The outer container is then filled with the resin, while the inner container is filled with the catalyst. These resins can be formed into capsules by cutting the ends at fixed lengths. The inner and outer containers are then heat sealed together.
